Ludmila Armata
Ludmila Armata was born in Poland. After she completed her masters in studio arts and a degree in graphic design and lithography at the Academie of Fine Arts in Cracow, she moved to Canada in 1981. She now works and lives in Montréal.
She has been a member of Quebec’s Printmakers Council since 1988.
Ludmila Armata has been displaying her work since the 1980s and has obtained numerous distinctions.
Ludmilia Armata is one of the most celebrated artistes because of her remarkable engravings. Certain works draw their themes from the universe of biology and others, like Ice Storm, define the line as a more abstract sketch in full transformation. Among other things, she won the Monique and Robert Parizeau Foundation Prize given by the National Museum of Fine Arts of Québec in 2002, as well as the Loto-Québec Collection prize in 2001.
